United MileagePlus Miles no Longer Expire

United Boeing 777

The American Star Alliance member United Airlines already has a very attractive frequent flyer program, MileagePlus, but with a new change, it has just become far more attractive.

In a newsletter to its customers, the airline has now announced that their award miles will no longer expire. Customers are to be given more time to collect miles so that they can then be used for attractive award flights. 2018, United customers had already used a record amount of miles, the airline states on its website. They expect this number to rise in the future.

Thank you, Pascal, for reporting this deal, just as all our readers could also do here

Are other airlines going to do the same? While some airlines already have this, such as Delta, other frequent flyer programs, such as Miles&More, will let your miles expire after 36 months unless you own a status or Miles&More credit card.

Is this a change that makes you want to switch to United MileagePlus? Then maybe their status match is a good way to start.
