Without making any grand announcement, Delta SkyMiles has added LATAM to the list of its Core Global Airline Partners, and so, from April 1st, SkyMiles members will be able to earn miles on all LATAM flights. Similarly to the other Core Global Airline Partners, Delta is extremely generous with the status miles (MQMs), crediting at least 100% of the distance, and also quite decent with the award miles, even in the deeply discounted economy class.
While this move is great news, it hardly comes as a surprise, as Delta had bought 20% of LATAM’s shares last year. Now, however, the waiting is over, and the conditions official. This means that a LATAM roundtrip from Europe to Chile, for instance, with an economy class ticket that cost roughly €600, will get you about 15,000 MQMs.
This adds LATAM to the wide portfolio of airlines, with which SkyMiles members can earn min. 100% in all classes. The other airlines are:
- Aeromexico
- Air France
- Alitalia
- China Eastern
- GOL
- KLM
- Korean Air
- Virgin Atlantic
- Virgin Australia
