Miles&Smiles: Double or Triple Miles for Turkish Airlines Flights Until August 2024

Turkish Airlines Airbus A321

Turkish Airlines‘ loyalty program Miles&Smiles has started a new promotion dubbed Miles Festival. Anyone who books a flight with the airline until March 24, 2024 earns:

  • Double award miles in economy class
  • Triple award miles in business class

All flights until August 11, 2024, are covered by this promotion. No prior registration is necessary.

There is one major downside to this promotion. Effective today, the airline has introduced a new award chart and reformed award pricing on a large scale, leading to a massive devaluation of award miles. Promotions like this are no long-term solution to fix the damage done to customers by the changes that came with very little prior information.

Only new bookings made after February 12, 2024, are eligible for the bonus. Existing bookings for flights during the travel period won’t get double or triple miles.

Bottom Line

This promotion seems like a cover-up for the much worse news that Miles&Smiles produced this week. While the conditions don’t seem unattractive on their own, both Miles&Smiles and their Miles Festival suffer from the fact that redemptions have become much less appealing recently.

This seems to be the cover-up from very negative news on literally destroying the Miles value for reward. Was able to book couple of J tickets from MEX one day before devaluation. But everyone knew that devaluation is coming, as even before it was very difficult to find any J availability for miles (all excuses like system down, your payment rejected etc etc). Still keeping my EPlus, but for lounge access mostly.
