There has been some good news over the past few days and weeks regarding global travel restrictions. Vietnam is also rolling back its restrictions and finally opening up again to tourists from all over the world.
Tourist visas are now being issued again, and many European citizens can even enter the country without a visa. At the same time, the quarantine mandate is no longer applicable for all those entering the country.
Entry Regulations Back to Pre-Pandemic Status
Two days ago, (March 15), Vietnam has eased entry requirements for foreigners. The same pre-pandemic rules now apply, and tourist visas are being issued again. This means:
- Citizens from Italy, Denmark and 12 other countries may enter Vietnam without a visa for a maximum of 15 days
- With a tourist visa (e.g. as an e-visa) a maximum stay of 30 days is possible for most Europeans
Quarantine Eliminated
So far, a three-day quarantine in a hotel (or other accommodation) was required for entry into Vietnam, even if you were fully vaccinated. This obligation ceases to apply with immediate effect. Even the unvaccinated no longer have to quarantine.
The only requirement is now a negative covid test before departure. This can either be a PCR test (max. 72 hours old) or an antigen test (max. 24 hours old). Another test after arrival in Vietnam is not required. However, travellers must fill out a health declaration and use the PC-COVID app (for Android / iOS).
