Trenitalia is the state railway company in Italy and the only provider on many long-distance routes. There is currently a nice discount coupon with which you get a 20% discount on super economy, FrecceDAYS and Frecce Special fare tickets. The discount coupon is valid for journeys between February 12, and March 26, 2024.

When booking, you should note that Super Economy tickets cannot be cancelled and cannot be rebooked. The Super Economy fare is not only valid in the lowest travel class, but for all travel classes – you can book all cabins from 2nd class to executive class!
One example is booking a ticket from Milan to Rome (or vice versa) for €23.90:
About Trenitalia
Trenitalia’s route network extends across Italy, including the island of Sicily. You can reach the latter via a train ferry (or of course by plane). The most important train types in long-distance transport are:
- Frecciarossa: Comfortable express trains between the big cities. They have four different classes – regular 2nd class up to executive class in a 1-1 arrangement, including meals
- Frecciargento: Slightly slower express trains, especially in northern Italy
- Frecciabianca: Even slower express trains off the high-speed lines with additional stops
- InterCity: Locomotive trains with significantly longer travel times
- InterCity Notte: Night trains within Italy, e.g. to Sicily or from Rome to Northern Italy.
The night trains, in particular, enjoy a good reputation among railway fans and are also very affordable.
Redeem Coupon
To redeem the voucher, you first have to go to Trenitalia.com. There you will find a booking form known from other railway companies to search for connections. Now look for your preferred connection and use the Italian city names (Firenze instead of Florence, Milano instead of Milan, etc.)
In the next step, you have to choose one of the connections and click on it once. A table of possible prices will open up and allow you to choose a fare. Make sure you select a fare that can be discounted by the coupon.
Proceed to the next step, where you can enter your passenger and contact details. You can enter your discount code in the passenger details box.
The prices have not yet been reduced. The voucher is entered together with the personal data. You will find the fold-out field, Do you have a discount coupon?. There, you enter the discount coupon code:
Now press check. The discount will then be applied automatically:
You then only have to complete your personal data (including your ID card number) and then pay for the (now discounted) ticket.
