Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling has reacted to stagnating booking numbers by adding a so-called Flex Pack option to its booking process. For bookings before December 31, 2021, you can choose this option for €2.00 during the booking process. It allows you get a refund in form of a travel credit for any fare type, in case you cancel your flight. It also waives the usually high rebooking fee, leaving only the fare difference to be paid if you change flight dates.
This offer is particularly attractive when applied to the airlines’ Basic fare, that usually offers none of such securities.
While the duration of the offer is limited, it is not bound to a specific travel period. So you may apply it to any booking on Vueling’s website, as long as it is an international flight. The offer shows not up if you book a domestic flight.
If you have booked a roundtrip, you may cancel the inbound flight in exchange for a travel credited, even if you have already completed the outbound flight. All this has to happen at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure.

What does Flex Pack offer?
This pack offers you several options: cancel your booking and get Flight Credit, or change the date of your flight.
If you decide to cancel:
- You can cancel the entire booking if the flights are operated by Vueling. If one of the flights has been flown, you may cancel the other journey.
- The amount will be saved in the form of Flight Credit, which you can use to book again for yourself or for someone else.
- You can do this up to 48 hours before departure.
- The cancellation will affect all the passengers in the booking.
If you decide to change your flight:
- You may change it only once, up to 2 hours before the departure of the flight.
- You won’t have to pay the change fee (which is EUR 50-70). You’ll only pay the fare difference, if any.
- You can change any flight in your booking (outbound or return).
- Even if you change your flight, you’ll still be able to cancel it later on. The amount will be saved as Flight Credit.
- The change will affect all passengers in the booking.
Bottom Line
More and more airlines are retiring their once so convenient covid-rebooking-policies. In contrast, this offer by Vueling is actually pretty nice. It gives you the offer to spend your money on other Vueling flights if you cancel and waives the airlines incredibly high rebooking fees – for as many date changes as you want.
With the Omicron mutation on the rise, the short term future of travel is currently almost as blurry as in the pandemic’s earliest days. That makes this option an offer worth considering, at least for flight dates within the next three months.
