The Virgin empire of Sir Richard Branson covers so many interesting facets, including space travel, air travel, record- and book stores. Not stopping there, the company offers air balloon rides as well. If you are interested in that kind of venture, you can now book them starting at £99, departing from various points in the England, Scotland and Wales. The discounted prices are valid until November 29, 2022.
The price is per person and your purchase comes in form of a voucher that is valid for 18 months. While you may choose your date within that time freely (restrictions apply to the cheapest vouchers, weather will play a role, as well), they are not refundable, except the most expensive one. You will be airborne for about an hour in each case, with the whole package taking 3-4 hours.
Air balloon rides are extremely dependent on weather conditions. As a save ride requires clear air and mild winds, booked dates may be cancelled on short notice. Also, rides during the winter months are very uncommon.
You can choose one of four possible packages:
- Weekday Morning Ride at £99 – The voucher is limited to launches on weekday mornings.
- Weekday Morning or Evening Ride at £114 – The voucher is limited to launches on weekday mornings or evenings.
- Any Day Morning or Evening Ride at £124 – You can select your launch at any day on mornings or evenings.
- Any Day Morning or Evening Ride Refundable* at £192 – You can select your launch at any day on mornings or evenings.
*The refund is subject to Virgin Balloons cancelling at least seven booked dates due to weather or other circumstances.
Selecting Dates
After purchasing a voucher, you need to set up an account on Virgin Balloons’ website. You can select a flight date with your account. You need to book a date within the 18 months of voucher validity – your flight might take place after that. If that flight is cancelled by Virgin Balloons, the initial validity of your voucher is extended, so you can rebook your flight.
