Cape Town: €546 Turkish Airlines Flights From Scandinavia & British Isles (With 2 x 23 kg of Luggage)

Cape Town South Africa

Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is currently selling its flights to Cape Town at a very low price from Norway and Sweden. But even from the UK and Ireland, the prices are lower than usual. These flights include 2 x 23 kg luggage, but also a very good economy class service, as Turkish Airlines treats its passengers well, even giving out amenity kits, which you’d mostly only get in business class. Availability is highest in April and May 2024.

Our calendar displays available dates in green. Once you’ve selected your preferred route and dates, it can redirect you to Turkish Airlines’ booking site:

You can depart from the following cities:

The 10-hour flight between Istanbul (where you’ll always have a layover) and Cape Town is operated with an Airbus A350. The seats are aligned in a 3-3-3 formation.

This deal will only remain valid until October 12, 2023. Your trip has to be at least 3 days (or a Sunday) long, and may not exceed 3 months. You also have to begin your trip before May 30, 2024.

You can find all available dates using Google Flights. Once you’ve done so, you should book directly on Turkish Airlines’ website.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Mileage

The tickets are usually issued in booking class P or U. Both booking classes are identical – both merely getting you around 3,350 miles on Turkish Airlines’ own frequent flyer program, Miles&Smiles, and no miles anywhere else.

Information & Tips for Cape Town

Cape Town is the second largest – but touristically more relevant – city in South Africa and especially known for the Table Mountain and the beaches in the south. The city is well-connected to Europe and the rest of Africa by air travel.

Compared to Johannesburg, flights to Cape Town are pretty much always more expensive. A good price is €500 – €600 for a round trip ticket in economy class. Anything under €500 can be considered a good deal, occasionally you can find fares around €400, although without checked luggage for the most part.

The Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit Cape Town is during the summer from the end of January until the end of April; the hottest temperatures are from December to February, although it is very windy during this time.

From the Airport to the City

Due to high crime rates, it is not recommended taking a bus or other forms of public transport in the regions surrounding the airport. A taxi from the airport to the city centre costs about €18 to €25, an Uber is a good alternative and costs about half of that.
