The Hotel
The 4-star theWit Chicago is a DoubleTree hotel and part of the Hilton brand. The hotel is located right next to the Chicago Theatre and very close to the Chicago Cultural Center. Its views are among the best in Chicago, especially if you get a room facing State Street, as you’ll see the river. The building has a casino, a bar, and a spa.
Previous guests have left good reviews, many of them praising the fantastic location, the pleasant atmosphere, the great view of the river, and the excellent proximity to the subway. Merely the front desk staff has received some negative reviews, many comments saying that they refuse to pick up the phone or to let food deliveries be delivered to the room.
You’d be staying in the Chicago Loop neighbourhood, meaning that you’re right in the city’s centre. There are many sights within walking distance, such as Millennium Park, which is only a 10-minute walk away. There are also plenty of restaurants in the hotel’s vicinity. The State/Lake subway station is right around the corner, from where you could, for instance, take the Orange Line and be at Chicago Midway airport in less than 35 minutes. You’re also only less than 5 minutes away from Washington subway station, from where the Blue Line can take you to O’Hare International Airport in less than 45 minutes.
Price Check
Usually, the theWit charges far more. Even staying at the hotel one month earlier, in December, would cost you roughly US$155 (~€145), and prices in March already shoot up to at least US$183 (~€172).
The price is also very good if you compare it to similar hotels in the Chicago Loop, which tend to charge between €220 and €345 in January.
Overall, considering all factors, we’d say that you’re saving up to 40% on this deal.
