TAP Portugal is running a great deal in for its route to Cancún: Roundtrips in March 2022 start at €270 from Madrid and Barcelona in TAP Portugal’s discount fare if you book through an OTA. You can also fly from Germany and Amsterdam for roughly €315, as well as from other Spanish airports.
These tickets are not subject to any goodwill policy. Therefore, you can simply book at an OTA for a cheaper price than what TAP is selling them at. The risk is roughly the same.
One piece of hand luggage (55x40x20 cm, maximum of 8 kg) and a personal item are included. But there’s one exception: If you have a Star Alliance Gold Status, you can take one checked luggage of 23 kg for free.
If you intend to add a piece of luggage to your booking, you’ll have to purchase the tickets on TAP’s website and select the Basic fare, with prices starting at €396 – not exactly a great price. These flights are only available in March 2022.
These origins are possible at a low price:
- Madrid: €270
- Barcelona: €270
- Amsterdam: €313
- Berlin: €313
- Düsseldorf: €317
- Frankfurt: €317
- Bilbao: €317
- Seville: €317
- Málaga: €317
- Valencia: €327
The long-haul flight is going to be operated by an Airbus A330-900neo, the short-haul flights within Europe are typically operated by an Airbus A320.
Search & Book
This fare can be booked for flights without a specific travel period. The fare has no expiration date and can thus be withdrawn anytime. The minimum stay requirement is of 6 days (or a Sunday). The economy class tickets have to be booked at least 5 days before departure. At least one free stopover is permitted. These flights can’t be canceled, but can be rebooked for €270.
You can find your preferred travel dates with Google Flights (instructions). You can then either book the flights directly on TAP’s website or look for the cheapest OTA price on our Travel-Dealz flight search. By the way, you can also add a stopover in Lisbon for free when booking the flights on TAP’s website.
Adding a Stopover in Lisbon or Porto
If you book directly on TAP’s website, a pop-up window will automatically open. Its user-friendly interface asks you if and how long you’d like to stay in Portugal. This is by far the easiest way to make the most out of a trip with TAP to any destination of your choice. A stopover in Porto can be added the same way. The best thing – the price of your flight remains the same!

Information & Tips for Mexico
Mayan pyramids, dreamy beaches and tacos – Mexico is an incredibly diverse country. If you want to experience the Spanish-speaking country to its fullest, you should definitely stay somewhere other than the tourist hotspots and seaside resorts.
The Best Time to Travel
The perfect travel time is from December to April, during this time it hardly rains and the temperatures are pleasant. Unsurprisingly, during the rainy season from May to October there is more rainfall. Beware of some extreme weather phenomenons that might be unknown to Europeans: Hurricane season lasts from June to November! Those who want to travel to typical holiday areas like Cancún and do not want to spend lots of money should travel in the off season. Areas with less touristic relevance such as Mexico City, on the other hand, are relatively constant throughout the year from a price perspective.
Currency, Credit Cards & Tipping
The official currency of the country is the Mexican Peso. 1 EUR equals about MX$18. The acceptance of credit cards is comparable to or even slightly better than Germany. In almost all shops, even small kiosks, it is possible and quite normal to pay by card. The same applies to restaurants. For street vendors, street snack bars and the like, it is advisable to have a few pesos in cash with you. It is unusual to tip taxis or cab drivers. At a restaurant, 10-15 percent are normal, as long as the tip is not already listed on the bill as a line item. When paying by card, you can usually choose how much you want to tip at the card terminal before entering the pin. Housekeeping at a hotel should usually be tipped 20-40 Pesos per day, small favours have a going tip rate of 5 Pesos.
Immigration & Visa Requirements
Most EU citizens do not need a visa to enter Mexico. All you need to do is fill out the tourist card that is handed out onboard the plane. For touristic and business purposes, a visa-free stay of 180 days is possible.
