Johannesburg: €377 SWISS Flights From Spain (€487 With Luggage)

Star Alliance carrier Swiss is offering great fares from various Spanish cities to Johannesburg in their economy class right now. Prices start at €376 from Palma de Mallorca. Other departure cities include Madrid, Barcelona, and a few more. Adding luggage, however, would increase the price by at least €110, so this deal is best if you travel without checked luggage.

Currently, you will have to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test issued at most 72 hours before departure when you land in South Africa and fill out a “Traveller Health Questionnaire” at most 2 days before departure. This could, however, change until your flight dates, so make sure to book for as late in the year as possible.

There’s high availability until December 16, except during the summer vacation. Availability is generally also somewhat lower on weekends.

These are the cheapest departure airports that we were able to find:

After first flying to Zurich, you would then fly to Johannesburg for roughly 11 hours on an Airbus A340. Be sure to charge your bigger devices (such as a laptop) before the flight, as Swiss’ economy class only offers USB-sockets for power.

By the way, this isn’t our only economy class deal for our Spanish readers:

This deal will expire on April 25, 2021. You can fly until December 16, as long as your stay is at least 4 days (or a Sunday) long.

Looking at Google Flights (instructions), it seems that there’s high availability in June, September, and October, as well as on the weekends of November and early December. You can book these flights directly on Swiss’ official website.

The tickets are issued in booking class K. This booking class will accrue 25% of the mileage flown in most frequent flyer programs. See a full overview for Palma de Mallorca to Johannesburg (and back) below:
