Info

Because of Corona, both USA and Canada do not allow tourists to enter the country. From what point on tourists will be allowed entering again is unclear at this point in time. However, this deal at least offers availability until September 2021.

If you would like to rebook your travel because of entry requirements respectively quarantine requirements, you can easily do so with Lufthansa as well as Air Canada without a rebooking fee. You will have to pay the fare difference however. For Air Canada tickets, you can also choose to get a voucher in the amount of the ticket price. This voucher will be valid indefinitely.

The following destinations are possible:

Search & Book

We were not able to find out in fare rules, when this deal expires. The minimum stay requirement is just 12 hours. The inbound flight has to commence no later than 3 months after the outbound flight. There are availabilities from now to September 2021.

You can find your preferred travel dates with Google Flights (instructions). The fare is so now that not all prices and availabilites are listed on Google flights.

Alternatively, you can just simply go to the websites of Lufthansa, United or Air Canada and look for your preferred travel dates over there. Generally speaking, you should book with the airlines directly, especially in times like these.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

If you are flying to or though USA, you will need an ESTA for €12 or a visa. For flights to Canada, you will need an eTA for approx. €5 or a visa.

Mileage

The tickets are issued in booking class P. Most of the frequent flyer programs of the Star alliance will credit these at 100%. If you are flying with Air Canada via Toronto to Boston, the mileage accrual will look like this:

Hotels

Hotels in North America are generally speaking pretty expensive. We recommend, not only comparing prices, but also location and reviews. A good website for that is booking.com:
