SkyTeam airlines Delta, KLM, and Air France are offering cheap flights to a wide range of cities in the United States. What’s particularly great, is that you can use this deal for your Christmas vacation, as many of these cities can be flown to during that time of year for this great price!
We were able to find good deals to the following American cities:
One of the highlights of this deal is Denver, where prices are usually much higher.
You’ll often have one layover but can also fly direct for a small surcharge.
Search & Book
The fare rules differ a bit, depending on the destination, but these prices should be available until March 22, 2020, unless they are sold out before then. Your stay has to include a Sunday, and may not exceed 3 months. The flights to the US have to be flown on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Sunday. The return flights, on the other hand, have to be flown on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. You can fly during the following travel periods:
- November 3rd – December 16th
- December 31st – April 21st, 2021
This means, that you could use this deal for your Christmas holidays, which is always an expensive period for travel!
These fares sadly do not include a piece of luggage, unless you have a SkyTeam frequent flyer status (Elite or Elite+). If you wish to fly with luggage, we recommend booking the Standard fare directly on the airlines’ websites, such as klm.com. The fare with luggage will usually cost €120 more. Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
