Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong: €350 from multiple origins with Royal Jordanian

At the moment Jordan’s flag carrier airline and Oneworld member Royal Jordanian Airlines is offering extremely cheap flights to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Hong Kong from many European cities including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Copenhagen, London and Madrid.

Very affordable flights from Amsterdam via Amman to Bangkok starting at €350.

Flights from Amman to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong are done in their Boeing 787 Dreamliner which features a 3-3-3 configuration in economy class whereas flights to Amman are operated in either an Airbus A320 or 321.
Please note: Flight times to Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong are significantly longer due to a technical stopover in Bangkok (no change of plane required).

Search & Book

According to the fare rules, this deal is available from September 10, 2019 to March 25, 2020. There is no minimum length of stay and a maximum length of stay of 45 days after departure. You cannot book flights between December 15, 2019 and January 10, 2020. Unfortunately no stopovers are permitted with this fare. The deal expires on July 15.

You can find your preferred travel dates (instructions) via Google Flights (filtering to Royal Jordanian does not work but flights appear in the general search results). You can then book directly with the airline via rj.com or via various online travel agencies. You can use our flight search to find the cheapest.

Mileage

The flights are in booking class R. Interestingly enough, according to WhereToCredit.com these flights do not earn any miles in Royal Jordanian’s own Royal Club program but with Qatar’s Privilege club and Iberia Plus.

An example flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur via Amman will earn you the following miles:

From the airport to the city center

Suvarnabhumi Airport is connected to the city center by train. Trains run between 06:00 and 23:59 approximately every 15 minutes and the journey takes 24 minutes. A taxi ride costs about 400 Baht and takes, depending on the traffic, 30 minutes to more than an hour.

Kuala Lumpur is the largest city in and the capital of Malaysia with about 7 million inhabitants and a huge variety of tourist activities and attractions. Also, Kuala Lumpur is an excellent starting point to explore the rest of the country or all of Southeast Asia. The city is well connected by air to the rest of Asia and Europe.

Flights from Europe to Kuala Lumpur are often pretty cheap. Deals between 300€ and 400€ can be found all year long, and also cheap Business Class fares are available from time to time. Thanks to numerous low-cost carriers you can get to many other destinations in Asia starting from Kuala Lumpur.

The Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Kuala Lumpur is between May and July. Comparatively, little rainfall and moderate temperatures and humidity provide good conditions to tourists and are a welcome change from the otherwise somewhat humid temperatures in Southeast Asia.

From the airport to the city

You can reach the city centre for about €12 (Oneway) in 28 minutes with the KLIA Express train. A taxi will cost you between €16 and €22 – so if you’re travelling with two or more persons this alternative is worth it! Bus transfers are available from €2.50 per route, but they are time-consuming and comparatively complicated to overlook.

Information & Tips for Hong Kong

Hong Kong is an Asian city-state and a vital trading metropolis in the Pearl River Delta not far from the Chinese coast. The city has long been a center for trade and business. Hong Kong is one of the largest air traffic hubs in Asia and therefore offers excellent connections to the rest of the world, hence the good deals that various airlines often provide. Flights in economy class usually are between 400€ and 500€ sometimes for even less than 400€.

Best Time to Visit

Winters are mild and dry, whereas summers are hot with rainfall and high humidity. The best time to travel is from October to early December when the weather is sunny, cool and therefore very pleasant.

Entry & Visa

Currency

The local currency is the Hong Kong Dollar ($, HKD, HK$). One Euro is approximately HK$8. Many credit cards may charge a foreign currency fee (up to 2% for payment) in Hong Kong Dollars.

Getting from the airport to the city centre

The fastest and most convenient way into the city is by Airport Express. This train will take you to the city centre within 24 minutes and will cost you around €12 per trip. Alternatively, you can also get into a taxi and pay approximately €35.
