Oneworld member Qatar Airways announced a spectacular PR-Stunt, promising 100,000 free economy tickets for health care workers and a travel companion of their choice. The airline gives out personalized promo codes that can be applied to any economy class flight in their network.
The original ticket costs is stripped down to airport taxes. To enjoy such a ticket, you need to present your professional ID badge at time of check-in.
On the first night, Qatar Airways website crashed as too many people tried to get their codes. As of now, you can still try to get your own. (Given you work in health care, of course.) The promotion ends tonight, May 18, 2020.
Qatar Airways states the following rules for this promotion:
- You need to work as on of the following medical professions
- Doctor
- Medical Practitioner
- Nurse
- Paramedic
- Lab Technician
- Clinical Researcher
- It is mandatory to present the original medical identification at the airport check-in desk at the time of departure, and it must clearly state the occupation, as submitted on the offer registration form. No photograph or printed identification will be accepted.
- Boarding will be denied, should any customer fail to provide the required original identification i.e. Medical license/registration in additional to regular passport documents.
This offer is officially destined to end on May 18, 2020, so you can try your luck again.
You can apply it to any economy class ticket purchased on qatarairways.com for travel between May 26 and December 10, 2020. If you wish to change your travel dates or destination afterwards, you can without additional fees as the tickets are fully flexible. You cannot change passenger names.
The code can be applied to any one way, round trip and multi-city flights within the Qatar Airways network.

- Select a flight
Search for a flight and enter the promo code in the search mask.
- Finish your booking
You should not pay more for your flight than airport taxes. Please remember that your first flight date has to be before December 10, 2020. You may change it for free, later.
- Present your medical ID upon Check-In
According to Qatar Airways’ terms and conditions, you need to present your valid medical ID when checking in at the airport. If you fail to do so, your ticket will be voided.

I got the code and booked a flight. But my flight was canceled by qatar due to corona. I got a mail I can use the tickets within 2 years. But when I tried they said I could only fly befor 31 march 2021. But all borders will be closed. So their offer is worthless.
I got the promo code and it’s not working
We also got the code but TOTALLY WASTE of time when you try to book a flight… They want to charge me $4500 for the FREE flight… Wasted 20 hours on this and phone people tell you to do yourself online… It’s a SCAM to get 10 Million clicks on their website!
I’m just trying to book now and it’s crazy because it still brings up the total exorbitant fee for the flight not just the tax alone. I don’t think it is free at all. Any success from your end?
