Spanish hotel chain NH Hotels is currently promoting their hotels in Portugal’s most attractive holiday region, the Algarve. If you’re staying in one of their five hotels in the area, you can get up to 2o% off on bed and breakfast or half-board room rates (10% promotional discount + additional 10% for NH Rewards members). The offer is valid until September 30, 2022 for stays between May 27 and October 16, 2022.
To get the full discount, you need to be a member of NH Rewards, the company’s loyalty program. It lowers the price by an additional 5%. Signing up is free.
A downside of this offer is that the price has to be prepaid. While there are exceptions in certain time frames outside the summer holidays, that allow onsite payment and free cancellation up to 7 days prior, this deal is largely unflexible.
Compared to prices available on booking.com on the same dates with the same conditions, you can actually save solid 10% with the offer pictured above.
Search & Book
NH Hotels’ landing page might be a bit confusing. When searching for a hotel, a pop up window will open. You’ll need to enter Algarve or Portugal in the search bar. Otherwise, no hotels will be displayed.
The offer is exclusive to NH Hotels website. You will have a hard time to find identical rates on portals like booking.com, as well.
In some cases, the much more expensive and risky regular rate will be displayed above the discounted rates. You have to scroll down a little to find the discounted price.
Get a Gift Voucher
NH Hotels further advertises the opportunity to get a gift voucher valid during your stay. The value of the voucher depends on the price of your booking:
- €50 voucher check book for reservations between €500 to €999.
- €100 voucher check book for reservations between €1,000 to €1,499.
- €150 voucher check book for reservations of €1,500 or more.
You will receive the voucher upon check-in. It is limited to the property you’re staying for the duration of your stay. The biggest catch is that each voucher can be used to pay a maximum of 50% of any bill, so you’ll end up spending the other half in cash. You can read more about that here.
Bottom Line
While this is not a bad offer in general, it has some quirks. Even the discounted prices are not super cheap (and the voucher is actually a ripoff), in some instances you can change your plans on short notice without risking any money. If you’ve got your eyes set on Portugal anyway, you should check it out.
