South Africa: €1,582 Business Class flights from Luxemburg, incl. over 30,000 Miles+Bonus Miles

Cape Town South Africa

You can currently buy business class tickets from Luxemburg to South Africa with Luxair and Star Alliance member South African Airways. Not only is that a great deal, but this will get you over 30,000 Aegean Miles&Bonus miles, which will get you very close to that wonderful Star Alliance Gold status.

We found cheap business class flights to the following South African destinations:

Not only is this a very cheap price, but the flight times are also excellent

From Luxemburg, you would fly to Munich with Luxair, and then continue to South Africa on a South African Airways Airbus A330. Should your final destination not be Johannesburg, you would then fly on to the other South African city, once again with South African Airways. However, be careful. Sometimes they’ll offer you a flight operated by Mango. We don’t recommend selecting these flights, as you would be seated in Economy Class.

While the long-haul flight is a bit over 10 hours long, the other flights are all roughly only one hour long.

Search & Book

The only restriction mentioned in the fare rules is that your stay has to include a Sunday. Sadly, we do not know until when this deal will be available.

Using Google Flights is the easiest way to find available dates. South African Airways doesn’t seem to be selling these tickets on their website, so we’d recommend using our Travel-Dealz flight search to book the flights. To facilitate your search for your preferred dates, we’ve created an availability calendar for trips of 3 to 6 days. For longer stays, use Google Flights.

Miles

The Luxair flights are issued in class C, but as Luxair isn’t part of any alliance, those flights are irrelevant. The great flights are the South African Airways flights, issued in class P, that’ll get you 300% on Aegean Miles+Bonus miles. For instance, just for the cheapest roundtrip (Johannesburg), you’d get the following number of miles:

  • 31,482 Miles on Aegean Miles+Bonus
  • 25,334 Kilometers on Air China PhoenixMiles
  • 15,742 Miles on Miles&More
  • 13,118 Award Miles + 2,000 PQP on United MileagePlus
  • 13,118 Miles on Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
  • 13,118 Miles on Singapore KrisFlyer
  • 13,118 Miles on ANA Mileage Club
  • 13,118 Miles on EVA Infinity MileageLands
  • 13,118 Points on SAS EuroBonus
  • 13,118 Miles on Thai Royal Orchid Plus
  • 13,118 Miles on EgyptAir Plus

Aegean seems to think, that booking class P stands for first class tickets. It is unclear, if or when they’ll notice and correct their mistake.

South African Airways Business Class

According to reviews on the internet, South African’s Airbus A330 business class is quite comfortable, but can’t compete with the market leaders from Asia or the Arabian peninsula. The biggest flaw is that the seats can’t be flattened completely into a straight bed. The service, however, is apparently very good.

I’d be curious to see someone getting that credited to M&B successfully.
    I mean, 300%…

      side note:
avoid Luxair for shuttling as “P”-class doesn’t get you anything in any ffp with LG.
LH doesn’t credit much better, but better than zero.
