Singapore: €1,083 Business Class with LOT From Stockholm

lot business class press

Star Alliance member airline LOT is currently offering good prices for flights from Sweden to Singapore. A roundtrip from Stockholm via Warsaw starts at €1,083 (~SEK 12,614). This offer is limited to outbound flights starting in 2020. This poses a risk, as there are still travel restrictions in place for European travelers arriving in Singapore. As of now, a 14-day quarantine is mandatory upon entering the country. Flights departing from Copenhagen or Oslo are available at €1,300.

Good prices to Singapore in business class

Inner European flights feature LOT’s usual mix of Embraer Jets and Boeing 737 aircraft. A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operates the long haul flight from Warsaw to Singapore. These feature fully reclinable lie-flat-seats in a 2-2-2 seating pattern up front.

Warning

We expect further shakeups in the airline industry over the following months. Some services might be cancelled, aircraft changed or downgraded. The schedule we describe may very well change.

Search & Book

According to the fare rules, this deal is available until June 24, 2020. The minimum stay requirement is a night from Saturday to Sunday or 3 days. The inbound flight has to commence no later than 3 months after the outbound flight. Travel has to commence before December 15, 2020. Scattered availability remains in November and December 2020.

Google Flights (instructions) tells you when prices are lowest. You can then either go ahead and book with the cheapest OTA through our flight search or invest €80 more and book directly with LOT. We recommend the latter and here’s why:

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Mileage

Tickets are issued in booking class F. Most Star Alliance programs will credit these at 100%. Miles&More stands out and credits the tickets at 150% of the distance flown.
