Secret Escapes currently has a good deal for the Bankside Hotel, Autograph Collection (by Marriott) in London’s downtown. You can get a regular 21 m² room for £99 (~€115) per night, and for £119 (~€139) you can even book a 26 m² Ample King room.
There’s availability from October 2020 until April 2021. Only New Year’s Eve is not available. The bookings are fully refundable up until 8 days before your arrival. Breakfast is sadly not included.
The Hotel
The Bankside Hotel, that was only recently opened in 2018, is part of the Autograph Collection, where Marriott keeps its especially high-class hotels. It’s located on the southern side of the Thames, directly next to the Blackfiars Bridge. On foot, you’ll only need 15 minutes to reach St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower Bridge. Westminster Palace requires a 30-minute walk. The location is thus perfect to explore London by foot.
The hotel has 161 rooms. The lowest category, Modest, is 21-24 m² big and has a queen-size bed, USB-charging ports, a small fridge, as well as a 49″ tv. The deluxe rooms (Ample) are far bigger (26-29 m²) and have a king-size bed (190 x 200 cm)
The hotel also has a gym, which guests can use 24/7. Check in is at 3pm and you’ll need to check out before 11 am. Sadly, there’s no way to book a rate that includes breakfast. You can add the breakfast directly at the hotel, apparently for £20 (~€23) per person. Probably, going to a nearby café may be a better option.
Price Comparison
We used Marriott‘s flexible search for the price comparison. The cheapest rate which we could find cost £157 (~€183). That rate included breakfast due to the Welcome-Back promotion, but only until the end of October and only on weekends:
Marriott sometimes even charges £350 (~€408) per night on many dates in 2021, while you can get the same room for only £99 (~€115) on Secret Escapes. Realistically, you’ll be saving 30-60% with this deal.
You should always also check the prices for nearby hotels. The Hilton London Bankside, for instance, often only costs £133 (~€155) on weekends.
You will not earn any Marriott points for bookings via third-parties such as Secret Escapes. You’re also not entitled to your status benefits – even if they’re often granted out of goodwill.
