Phuket: €362 KLM Flights From Amsterdam (€442 With Luggage)

Strand Phuket Thailand

The Dutch SkyTeam member, KLM, is currently offering a nice deal for flights from Amsterdam to Thailand. Starting at €372, you can book a roundtrip to the island of Phuket. All flights until December 31, 2021 are fully refundable!

The cheapest fare doesn’t include any checked luggage, except for SkyTeam status holders. Everyone else would have to pay €80 to bring a 23kg piece of luggage on this trip. Otherwise, you’ll only be permitted to bring a piece of hand luggage and a personal item.

Info

Currently, you’d have to quarantine for 15 days upon arrival in Thailand. Despite rising case numbers, Phuket apparently still plans to open up for tourism from July 1. Be aware, however, that everything could change. Transit through Malaysia is permitted, as long as you don’t need to switch terminals.

KLM will allow you to get a full refund for all flights until December 31, 2021. You’d receive a voucher, which can be refunded to your bank account. Flights in 2022 can only be rescheduled, paying the fare difference. You can find more info on KLM’s website.

You can search for your preferred dates on our calendar below, which will then redirect you to KLM’s booking site. All cheap dates for trips of 5 to 28 days are highlighted in green:

How to get to Amsterdam

Schiphol International Airport, located in Amsterdam is the largest airport in the Netherlands. With over 50 million passengers a year, it is the fourth largest airport in Europe and KLM’s home base.

Amsterdam is easy to reach by car from the Benelux countries as well as from Denmark. Alternatively, you can also travel to Amsterdam with Flixbus.

By the way, this isn’t the only economy class deal we’ve got that departs from Amsterdam:

  • until July 7, 2021

Your trip has to be at least 6 days (or a Sunday) long. You can find all available dates using our calendar above or using Google Flights. You should then book directly on KLM’s website.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Mileage

The tickets are issued in booking class X. You can roughly expect to get the following number of miles:

  • 3,288 Miles on CSA OK Plus
  • 3,070 Miles on MEA Cedar Miles
  • 3,070 RDM + 614 MQD on Delta SkyMiles
  • 2,488 Miles on Aerolíneas Argentinas AerolíneasPlus
  • 2,488 Miles on GOL Aéreos Smiles
  • 2,456 Miles on Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles
  • 2,456 Points on Malaysia Airlines Enrich
