IHG One Rewards Award Nights at a Fraction of the Normal Price – e.g. New Year’s Eve / Summer in New York for 20,000 Points

InterContinental Singapore

Good news: Many IHG hotels can currently be booked again at a fraction of the usual prices. Compared to the usual dynamic pricing, you can often save 50%, in rare cases even up to 70%!

For example, almost all Holiday Inns worldwide can be booked for only 20,000 to 25,000 points. This even applies to nights in New York in midsummer and on New Year’s Eve! This way, you can achieve a value of up to 3 cents per point! Usually, around 0.4 to 1 cent is common. But be quick, we expect this sale to end any minute!

We don’t expect the deal to last long. If in doubt, you should book first and then think, because cancellation is usually possible up to 3 days before arrival. And if you don’t have enough points, you can buy them for around 0.56 cents per point. Alternatively, you can also book cheap Points & Cash rates, provided you have at least a few points in your account.

Warning

Many hotels are selling their rooms for 60% or 70% less than normal as part of this sale. It can therefore not be ruled out that the bookings may be cancelled. But that didn’t happen with the last promotion of this kind.

In the worst case, you bought points for it and the transaction can no longer be reversed. Or you can’t book at all because the prices have increased in the meantime.

Example: New York for 20,000 points

Several Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Candlewood Suites hotels are currently still available for 20,000 points. In addition, there is sometimes a facility fee of almost $20:

Hint

The Points&Cash rate is often very attractive. You can book them from as little as 5,000 points per night. In the New York example, for example, you usually end up with 5,000 points + 102 USD per night.

Search & Book

The reduced prices are available from autumn 2022 to summer 2023. To book, simply use the IHG website and set the price to “points”. Alternatively, the following form will take you there directly:

Important when travelling to New York: Searching for “New York” leads to an error message. Instead, you have to try searching for “Manhattan” or something similar.

Buy Points Starting at 0.56 Cents

Don’t have enough points in your account? There is currently only a 75% bonus on point purchases, but that’s still a good price. If you buy at least 45,400 points at once, you end up with a price of 0.562 cents per point:

45,500 points for US$260 (~€243) = 0.562 cents per point

For me, the points have always been credited immediately. However, the comments report that this is not always the case. So another warning:

Warning

The reduced hotel rates will probably only last a few hours. It may take several days for purchased points to be credited. The purchase of points for the “offer” described here is definitely associated with high risks.
