IHG: 15% Discount When Booking With Mastercard (Africa, Middle East and Maldives)

Holiday Inn Muenchen Aussenansicht

InterContinental Hotels Group now has a new sale together with Mastercard. When you book with MC, you will get a 15% discount and you will also get a welcome drink and free late check-out. To benefit from the deal, you need to select the Mastercard Partnership rate when booking a stay on IHG’s website. Unfortunately, the deal is not available in Europe, the Americas, Oceania and most of Asia (except the Maldives).

When calculating from the non-member best flexible rate, they do offer a ~15% discount. However, as a free member, you can save on the normal fare, but cannot benefit from additional discounts on this promotion. Even then, you’d still save around 11-12%. You need to pay a one-night deposit but can cancel until up to 72 hours before arrival.

IHG has partnered up with Mastercard to offer special discounts to customers.

IHG is the parent company of famous brands like Intercontinental, Regent, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn among others. While they don’t offer an extra discount for this promotion, a membership can earn you points and potentially other benefits. You can sign up for an IHG One Rewards membership for free.

Search & Book

You can simply follow the link to the promotion page, where you can search for your desired destination and dates. The promotion is valid for stays until January 3, 2024. You have to book three days in advance and pay a deposit for your first night’s stay.

You can refund your stay 72 hours before arrival. After that, you will be charged for the full stay, not only the first night. (The best flexible rate only charges you the first night.) You can benefit from the discount in Africa, the Middle East and the Maldives. IHG will give you a (non-alcoholic) welcome drink and (according to availability) late check-out until 16:00 local time. You will need to present your Mastercard at check-in.

IHG offers a 15% discount, free late check-out and a welcome drink when booking with Mastercard.

Bottom Line

This is a good deal: The free welcome drink and the late check-out are a nice touch and can be deal makers when booking non-European stays. Although this is not your deal if you like to make last-minute changes considering the strict cancellation policy.

Getting a Mastercard can be very easy. If you are open to virtual banks you can benefit from our discounts. Curve offers Mastercards (also be careful as they might want to issue Visa at first).

When booking European hotels, you may want to look around as aggregators such as Booking.com offer either cheaper prices or better flexibility options. You can compare different hotels in our flight search tool which will then forward you to either Booking.com or to the Travel-Dealz hotel search tool.

I do not get any Mastercard Rates. I am on IHG’s Mastercard promotion landing page looking at IHG properties in the Middle East.
    Any Comments?

  2. Niki says:

I don’t see the specific Mastercard rates. It doesn’t works for bookings by German accounts?
    Do I something wrong?🧐

Are you looking at properties in Africa, the Middle East or the Maldives? Those are the only areas for this MC promotion. (Another promotion just came up – but only if you happen to have a Chase IHG credit card – for reward nights booked using points or points and cash: Book by January 20th for hotel reward nights until March 10th, and get a 20% discount on the points you use.)

Wouldn’t it be better to BEGIN by saying that the deal is ONLY available for stays in Africa, the Middle East and the Maldives … so that everyone doesn’t need to read through to the 5th paragraph before discovering that information. State where it IS available first! Thanks.
