IHG Hotels: Second Room Complimentary (For Family Members) in Ireland, Germany, France, & the UK

IHG (Crowne Plaza, Indigo, Holiday Inn…) has launched an exciting promotion called “Grandparents Stay Free”. If you stay at select hotels for at least two nights and book two rooms, you will initially be shown the full price for two nights and two rooms, but at check-in, you will have the second (cheaper) room waived.

According to the conditions, however, the grandparents do not necessarily have to stay in the second room, only family members. But it also states that this is not controlled. The offer can be booked until April 20 for stays from April 6 to July 15, 2022.

The list of all hotels can be found on the landing page:

Info

Note that the booking must be made at least 7 days before check-in and can be cancelled, but the cost of a room will then be charged. As mentioned earlier, while the terms do not verify that everyone is from the same family, it is best not to rely on them. By the way, breakfast cannot be added to the rate.

The offer is valid in a total of 48 hotels in England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany and Wales. You can find the participating hotels on the landing page. There, you should ideally be shown the fare, as here in the example for the Holiday Inn Essen City Centre:

As you can see from the screenshot, you wouldn’t save exactly 50% in this example, but more like 48%. Still pretty good. However, the comparison is not completely fair, since the advance saver rate can be cancelled free of charge and can be booked up to 3 days in advance, rather than at least 7. Either way, a great offer if you can live with the fact that the offer cannot be cancelled free of charge. Incidentally, the offer is also excellent in comparison to all OTAs, as they do not offer their rates cheaper than IHG’s regular rates.
