Phuket: €350 from Helsinki with Juneyao Airlines (incl. luggage)

Phuket, Thailand

Shanghai-based carrier Juneyao Airlines is currently selling cheap flights from Helsinki to Phuket. While this airline is not very well known, the service is apparently quite good, and luggage is included. As long as you speak English, you should be absolutely fine. You’d also get to explore Shanghai, which is a beautiful bonus. Availability is very good until October, but especially good if you’re looking for some last-minute flights in the next few weeks. You have to be quick, however, as this deal expires tomorrow.

From Helsinki, you’d fly to Shanghai on a Boeing 787 – Dreamliner. You would spend an entire day in Shanghai, which is one of the easiest ways to explore the city, as for most nationalities these layovers of less than 144 hours are the only way to get into China without a visa (please research China’s visa requirements for your nationality before booking the flight). Then, in the evening, you would continue to Phuket. On the way back, you’d have the same situation.

As mentioned before, Juneyao Airlines is not particularly well known in Europe, but service is apparently quite good, with meals being included, as well as luggage. English-speaking passengers did not seem to have problems to communicate with the staff, according to some reviews on the internet.

Search & Book

The fare rules state that this price will continue to be available until August 15, 2019, so you’ll have to be quick. The only other restriction is a minimum stay of 2 days.

Finding available dates is a bit tricky as Google Flights does not display them. You’ll have to simply try out some dates in our Travel-Dealz flight search.

We found good availability in August and September, and a few dates in October (often €20 more expensive).

Miles

As Juneyao Airlines does have some cooperations with a few Star Alliance airlines, you will get some miles on the following programs:

  • 4,392 Award Miles + 734 PQP on United MileagePlus
  • 4,392 Miles on Air Canada Aeroplan
  • 4,392 Avios on Finnair Plus
  • 4,392 Miles on EVA Infinity MileageLands
  • 4,392 Miles on Singapore KrisFlyer
  • 4,392 Miles on ANA Mileage Club
Data provided by miles.travel-dealz.com. Without guarantee on correctness.

The long-haul flights are issued in booking class L, while the shorter flights to/from Phuket are issued in class Y.

Information & Tips for Phuket

Phuket is a southern province and also the largest island of Thailand in Southeast Asian. While Bangkok is more of a tourist destination, Phuket offers a lot of recreational options on the beach and is located in the Indian Ocean rather than the Gulf of Thailand.

Although Phuket is not always as easy to reach as Bangkok and it will often take an additional layover to get there, you can combine your beach holiday with a city trip to Bangkok. You can first book your flights to Bangkok and then separate (cheap!) flights from Bangkok to Phuket if you really can’t find a good deal from Europe.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to travel is from November to February. During this time it is dry and comparatively cool but of course still ideal for a beach holiday. The rainy season runs from mid-May to October.

From/to the airport

From the airport to different cities/resorts on the island, it is best to take a taxi (or Uber). Bus connections are cheaper but also much slower.
