The Four Elements Hotel in Amsterdam can currently be booked cheaply through Secret Escapes. You would be paying £55 (~€60) per night, and on top of that, there is a tourist tax of 7% and an accommodation tax of €3 per person per night. This increases the total price per night to €75. There’s high availability in December, though not on weekends, except for the Christmas weekend. You can also stay at the hotel earlier, however, at a higher price.
With the deal, you also get a 15% discount on the breakfast buffet (€14.50 instead of €18.50 per person) and a late check-out at 14:00.
The concept of the hotel is very interesting: it is one of the few hotels completely dedicated to environmental protection. More on that below.
As usual with most Secret Escapes deals, you can cancel the booking free of charge up to 8 days before arrival. After that, cancellation is no longer possible.
The hotel is located on the artificial IJburg Islands, thus being a bit far from the city centre. You can get to Amsterdam Central Station by public transport within 27 minutes. This is just about acceptable but could become annoying in the long run.
As mentioned above, the hotel is completely eco-friendly. The following points are mentioned on the website:
- Energy neutral hotel
- 100% sustainable
- Regional and seasonal products on the menu
- Natural air conditioning system
- Allergen-free materials
- The hotel is located on the artificial Ijberg islands, which were constructed in harmony with nature
In December, the hotel generally charges around €110-115 for a refundable rate, meaning that the price on Secret Escapes is roughly 35% lower. Even a non-refundable rate still costs about €30 more than what you’re paying on Secret Escapes.
The highest savings we could find is for the night of Christmas Eve, where you’d be paying €135 elsewhere, while Secret Escapes still sticks to the same fixed price.
