Members of the Star Alliance, such as Lufthansa, Swiss, and Air Canada, are selling discounted tickets for flights from Dublin to Cancún in Mexico. The city on the northeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula is a famous destination for tourists. Prices for your round-trip start at only €316.
The availability of this deal is pretty much limited to flights between January and March, as well as November and December 2020. The good news: this fare already includes one piece of checked luggage — so no need to pack light.
There are several possible routing that could get you to Mexico. The cheapest ones often include two layovers, one in Europe and another one in Canada or the USA. If you’re willing to pay a little extra (around €20), you can eliminate one stop.
Search & Book
According to the fare rules, tickets will be sold until January 21st, and the offer is valid for trips commencing before April 15th, 2021. As already mentioned above, there are restrictions as to the travel period:
- January 9th through March 31st
- November 1st through December 17th
- December 25th through March 31st, 2021
The minimum stay requirements are pretty generous. You only have to until the first Sunday after your arrival before returning to Europe. Three months will be the maximum the fare allows for.
As with most other deals, we would recommend you use Google Flights (instructions) to find the best and cheapest offers. Then visit the carrier’s website for booking. Or just try and compare prices with our Travel Dealz flight search – might save you some Euros.
Mileage
All tickets will be issued in booking class K. The earning rate depends on the carrier you’ve chosen. Please also note that some flights are operated by Edelweiss, which will also influence how many miles you will be credited with. Since there are so many different options, we would like to refer you to WheretoCredit.com so you can check your personal itinerary.

The Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Cancún is from November to March. During this time temperatures are quite high and precipitation is comparatively low. The Hurricane season stretches from May to September – even if hurricanes do not form, this period of time brings a lot of precipitation and tropical storms.
From the Airport to the City Center
A taxi from the airport to the beach, where most hotels are, costs about €30-35, depending on the traffic and the exact route. Shuttle buses are cheaper, but due to their disorganized nature it is advisable for tourists to use a licensed taxi or book a transfer with their tour operator.
