Hong Kong: €1,240 in Business Class With Finnair From Brussels

Finnair Wingtip

The Oneworld carrier Finnair is making some noise right now with sales to Asia. We have already written about their business class sale to Xi’ian from all over Europe. In this case, Finnair offers reasonable business class fares to Hong Kong from Brussels.

Great fare to Hong Kong from Europe in business class

The European feeder flights are operated with an Airbus A319 or A320 or an Embraer 190. These do not feature a dedicated business class but offer more space since the middle seat is usually kept empty. The long-haul segment is operated with an Airbus A350. This aircraft features a 1-2-1 seating configuration with every seat having direct aisle access. There’s a great review by One Mile At A Time if you want further information.

According to the fare rules, the deal expires January 27, 2020. It is valid for travel between February 20 and November 30, 2020 with the following blackout dates: June 19 to August 23, 2020. A free stopover is permitted. A second stopover in Helsinki would cost an additional €50. The minimum stay requirement is 5 days or a night from Saturday to Sunday. The inbound flight has to commence no later than 1 month after departure.

The best way to find the fare is Google Flights (instructions). After that, use the Finnair website to book since OTA’s are only slightly cheaper. If you would like to support Travel-Dealz, use our Travel-Dealz search and then book via Finnair through there.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Mileage

All segments are issued in booking class I. The mileage earned on this ticket depends on your frequent flyer program of choice. Have a look below to find your program:
