Hotels.com UK has an interesting offer for members of British Airways‘ frequent flyer program Executive Club. If you follow the link and book a hotel room on the website between today and June 7, 2019 you can earn up to 8 Avios for every £1 spent.
Rules
Hotels.com offers some fairly tricky rules regarding this offer:
- The Avios are only credited based on the hotel’s rate minus taxes and surcharges.
- The Avios are credited six to eight weeks after you’ve finished your stay, so this is no way to earn Avios fast.
- You will only earn the higher Avios levels if you do not create or log in to your Hotels.com account. You must complete the booking as a guest.
Not particulary specific are their statements regarding how many Avios will actually be credited:
- Without Hotels.com Rewards: 8 Avios per £1 spent (usually 6 avios per £1 spent)
- With Hotels.com Rewards: 4 Avios per £1 spent (usually 3 avios per £1 spent)
So you’ll basically have to choose whether you would like to benefit from your Executive Club membership or earn rewards on hotels.com
How to take part
You need to follow the link above and proceed normally with your booking procedure. At the last step, you will be asked to enter your Executive Club membership number. This is your only chance to get avios. You cannot add your membership number after your booking is confirmed!
Summary
Since the terms of use are not customer friendly and your Avios will be credited a long time into the future, you shouldn’t consider booking a room just to earn Avios. But if you want to book a room anyway, this presents a good opportunity to boost your Avios account.
