The Ship

Diamond Princess entered into service in 2004, joining its Gem-class sister ship, Sapphire Princess (technically, the Diamond was originally named Sapphire and vice versa). Compared to her age, she is still very stylish. Although, most people remember the ship’s name from something infamous: the COVID-19 quarantine.

But don’t worry: you will have a very enjoyable 27 days onboard, as there are many types of entertainment options. You can go to the theatre, pools, jacuzzis, gym or the spa: you won’t be bored at sea.

Have a look at these staterooms, aren’t they beautiful?

Flights

If you are based in Europe and can’t combine it with other trips, you could fly to South California (LAX is usually cheaper to fly to). LEVEL flights from Barcelona cost €249, and Norse Atlantic could be an option too once they publish their summer schedule. Flying back to Europe from Tokyo is the easiest and cheapest with Scoot. Currently, it costs €301 to Berlin.

For those living in North America or wanting to return to the West coast, Delta might be the best option. At just €261, a full-service flight is a great value.
