If you don’t already have an account with the SkyTeam frequent flyer program, Delta SkyMiles, now is a good time to create one. Because they are currently giving out 1,000 miles (worth around €10) for free for new members.
Miles on Delta SkyMiles never expire. Even if you rarely travel with the airlines in the alliance, it can be worth signing up.
Conditions
It is not known how long the start bonus will be available. The number of conditions for the promotion is rather small. The bonus is only available to new members never had a SkyMiles account. If the new account is merged with another account, the miles will be removed again.
It should also be noted that the bonus miles can take between 6 and 8 weeks to be credited. Although it says so in the conditions, we’ve heard that they were credited immediately.
Redeem Delta Miles
There are no sensible redemptions for 1,000 miles yet. So you will have to take a few more flights for the starting bonus to pay off.
For instance, for 4,500 miles + US$6 (~€6) you would get a one-way flight from New York City to Buffalo at Niagara Falls:
