The two airline alliances Oneworld and Star Alliance are competing over the lowest price for tickets from Lisbon and Porto to Sao Paulo, Brazil and you can take advantage of this Fare War! LATAM is selling low priced Business Class tickets for only 1.026€ per roundtrip. But you can also book your flight with TAP and spend just a few Euros more. The Portuguese airline charges 1.047€ but in exchange offers direct flights to and from Brazil.
Star Alliance doesn’t offer these cheap fares anymore. But you can still book tickets with LATAM.
If you chose to fly Oneworld, you would have a layover going to Brazil or on your way back. In most cases, Iberia will connect you from Lisbon or Porto to Madrid (and/or vice versa). Than LATAM will operate the flight from Europe to South America.
If you’re from Spain and thinking about skipping the connection flights from and to Madrid, take at look at this article to find out if that’s an option:
As already mentioned, TAP offers direct flights from Lisbon to Sao Paulo. Flight time will be around 10 hours. According to the information we get from Google Flights, you should be on board of an Airbus A330-900neo. Therefore you’ll get to check out the brand new Business Class that TAP is installing on its fleet.
Search & Book
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find out how long you will be able to book this offer or if there are any restrictions regarding the time period in which the fares are available.
We did find dates for both offers until the end of 2020, with less availability during June and July.
We recommend using Google Flights (instructions) to check if there are dates that would fit your schedule. Afterwards, you can either book directly on the carriers website’s or use our Travel Dealz flight search to find the best price.
Booking Class Z will get you somewhere between 100% and 200% of the actual distance flown in miles – depending on the frequent flyer program you signed up for. With BA’s popular Executive Club you’ll earn around 13.000 Avios and 280 Tier points for a direct flight (plus 40 for each connection within Europe). That way you could be promoted to Bronze tier. That is to say that you manage to fly BA at least twice.
Most Star Alliance frequent flyer programs will credit you with 125% to 200% of the actual distance flown. Since TAP offers non-stop flights, you will earn almost 20.000 award miles with EuroBonus, Miles&More or Miles and Bonus.
