Bangkok: €1,244 for Qatar Business Class From Saint Petersburg

Phuket, Thailand

If you don’t mind visiting Russia in order to get a great deal on flights, then you will like this offer. Qatar Airways is selling very cheap tickets for flights from Saint Petersburg to Bangkok. Prices for a round-trip to Thailand start at RUB 85,817 (~€863), which is an awesome deal. In many cases, even with a feeder flight from a city in Europe, you will still stay below what those flights would typically cost.

Especially since the free e-visa is available, it has become much more interesting to book flights via or departing from Saint Petersburg. To get more information on this topic, check out the following post:

From Russia, Qatar Airways will fly you to – you’ve probably already guessed it – Doha. You can, of course, visit the lounge while you’re waiting for your second flight to Thailand. The airline will mostly operate Boeing 787 and 777 on the routes from Qatar to Bangkok. Sadly, your chances of scoring a Qsuite are slim. Flights from Saint Petersburg will be on board of an Airbus A320.

Search & Book

There is no expiry date for this deal according to the fare rules. You can spend up to 1 month in Thailand before returning to Europe. If you’re in a hurry: the minimum stay requirements are 4 days.

Check Google Flights (instructions) for the lowest fares and the best connections. Once you’ve found your preferred dates, use our Travel Dealz flight search to book your seats. Or just visit Qatar’s website.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Please note that some trips could include an overnight stay in Doha. Now, Qatar Airways is running a great stop-over program, and the fare allows for a free one in Doha. But if you’re not interested in visiting the capital of Qatar, we suggest looking for flights with short layover times.

Getting to Saint Petersburg

If you’re not living anywhere near Saint Petersburg, you might want to look for feeder flights. Flights from Russia to Doha depart in the late afternoon or even during the night. This means you could arrive on the same day your Qatar flight takes off.

Things look different on your way back. Most flights from Doha arrive in the evening, giving you very limited possibilities to continue your travel on the same day. So you should probably book a hotel and maybe even extend your vacation. Saint Petersburg is definitely worth a visit.

Either way, feeder flights from many European cities are available at prices between €150 and €200.
