Asia Miles: 10% Bonus on Transfers, e.g., From Membership Rewards

cathay pacific business seat

Cathay Pacific‘s frequent flyer program Asia Miles is currently running a promotion that will get you an extra 10% when transferring miles or points from another program. You can shift your American Express Membership Reward points at a ration of 5:4 and receive the 10% bonus, for example.

You will have to register for the promotion by following this link:

Once you signed up, you will have to transfer your miles until 11:59 pm (GMT+8) on January 31st in order to receive the bonus. Apparently, it can take up to 8 weeks after the promotion end date until you can see the extra miles in your account.

Next to the most obvious option – Membership Reward – you can also think about exchanging your Bonvoy points for Asia Miles.

Warning

Asia Miles devaluated the award table for Oneworld flights at the end of September 2019. Depending on the route, now up to 50% more miles will be due. Consequently, on medium-haul routes (2,751 to 5,000 miles), you will now need to spend 61,000 in business and 87,000 award miles in first class. Opposed to 50,000 and 75,000 that you need in the past. This change was made overnight without prior notice. And it can happen again at any time!

Miles Will not Expire

By the way, miles earned with Asia Miles never expire if you have at least one account activity (earn or redeem one or more miles) within the last 18 months (similar to the British Airways Executive Club).

Sweet Spots

Asia Miles is especially interesting for first-class award travel on Cathay Pacific within Asia for 40,000 miles plus €53 in taxes & fees or between Europe and Asia for 100,000 miles plus €152 in taxes & fees:

Of course, you can book award flights with other Oneworld members via Asia Miles, e.g., with Iberia in Business Class for 70,000 miles plus €27 in taxes & fees between Madrid and Tokyo:
