Miles&More Goodwill Policies: Status Partially Extended by 1 Year + New Program From 2022

In the last couple of weeks Miles&More promised an update on Corona-related goodwill amendments over and over again. Some members have already received an Email with official iunformation.

Miles&More is offering the following goodwill amendments to the program:

  • The Frequent Traveller, Senator and HON status of members, whose status would have expired end of February 2021, is going to be extended by one year
  • E-Vouchers that would have expired in 2020 are valid until the end of 2021
  • The planned changes to the Miles&More program will be delayed until January 1, 2022

As of now, it is not planned to lower the status qualification hurdle in 2020. Miles&More is not going as far as United that did not only extend the status of each status holder by one year but also halved the status qualification hurdle for this year.

It is very disappointing that Miles&More only extends the status of members whose status would have expired end of February 2021. Therefore, all other status members are disadvantaged. But all status holders were unable to use their status fully in 2020. It would have been fair to extend the status of ALL status members by one year and maybe reduce the status qualification hurdle for this year by 25% (= 3/12 months).

After many frequent flyer programs were quite gracious with their status amendments, Miles&More is deciding for a more reserved policy that is hardly comprehensible. Maybe this could backfire on Miles&More? Personally, I will definitely check out other frequent flyer programs again and see if I find a program that values their status members a bit more than Miles&More does.
